Casting out a demon
To invoke the name of God is no joke. Casting out a demon in the name
of Jesus is no spell. You are invoking your relationship, or rather His
relationship to you- as protector and provider.
We have an awesome God.
Here is my daily reading from Acts 19 NIV:
13 Some Jews
who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the
Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the
name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
15 One
day the evil spirit answered them,
“Jesus I know,
and Paul I know about,
but who are you?”
16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on
them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran
out
of the house naked and bleeding.
17 When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.

“Is it time to go?”
“Are you ready, papa, are you ready yet?” Their small voices piped.
Jasper looked down at his little boys as they beamed up from around his legs.
“Okay, okay.” He surveyed their winter coats and tiny mittens. Ethan had a scarf wrapped snugly around his neck. Emerson's head was covered with a woolly hat. “We're almost ready.” Jasper told his sons, pulling a winter cap over his own head. “Now Emerson, where is your scarf? And Ethan, I don't see a hat on your head.” Emerson shrugged, raising his slender shoulders quizzically.
“I don't know.”
“He lost them!” accused Ethan, pointing a finger.
“No I didn't!”
“Yes you did!”
“Boys, boys!” their father broke in. “We're not going to play the blame-game.” Jasper told them sternly. His sons stilled, looking away rebuked.
“Now,” Jasper started more gently, “Have either of you checked the Dryer or behind a couch?” Small heads shook no. “Well,” He chided, “go look.” Jasper slowly shook his head as he watched them scamper off, racing to get there first. He turned at the sound of his wife chuckling behind him, a delicate fist covering her sweet mouth. A smile came to his own lips. He wrapped an arm around her waist as she stepped closer. Body pressed against Jasper, Veronica's chin tilted as he kissed her with tender love. Her free hand came up to rest behind his neck. The moment lingered. Veronica pulled back to gaze into her husband's soft eyes. Her lips parted to show teeth as she grinned at her spouse. Veronica's voice came at just above a whisper, “I love you, Jasper Anthony.” He laid anther one on her before responding. “I love you too, my little dove.” His lithesome voice stated gently. Veronica giggled at her nickname. He was so sweet! Time resumed it's flow as competitive squeals broke the air. Ethan held a bundle of colored garments while Emerson chased him into the room. Jasper sighed. The work of a parent was never done.
